Start Today and the Records Behind Our Designs
Four records, three decades. Here's what we put out, and how those records show up in our merch.
What was our first release?
The Gorilla Biscuits 7″ EP (1988): our first record, and our first on Revelation Records, the label we've been with ever since.
Why does Start Today matter so much?
Our debut album (1989): we recorded Start Today between January and April 1989 at Demo² Studios in New York, and produced it ourselves with Don Fury. It became one of Revelation's best-selling records, and NME named it among the 15 best hardcore albums.
The songs: "New Direction", "Stand Still", "Degradation" and "Good Intentions" are all on it.
A second life: a remastered edition came out in 2006.
Is there a live record?
Yes: Having A Great Time… Wish You Were Here (1991) captures us live in Germany, released on 99 Records.
What came after the reunion?
At the Matinee (2006): two new songs, sold on our 2006 reunion tour.
How do the records become designs?
From the art, not from guesswork: our designs come from the things that have always stood for the band: the grinning gorilla in the red GB cap, the GB logo, and our name in heavy block letters. Each product page says exactly what its design shows, front and back.
One design, every garment: pick a design, then pick a tee, long sleeve, crewneck or hoodie. Kids' and youth sizes carry the same designs.
